Humerus

The upper arm bone

Head of the Humerus

The top, rounded portion of the humerus; joins with the Glenoid Fossa (cavity) to form the shoulder joint

Greater Tubercle

The small projection on the lateral, superior side of the Humerus

Shaft of the Humerus

The long portion of the upper arm bone

Deltoid Tuberosity

The rigid portion along the anterior shaft of the humerus, to which the shoulder muscle attaches

Radial Fossa

Small depression on the anterior, lateral, and inferior portion of the humerus, in which the head of the radius fits when the elbow is flexed

Coronoid Fossa

Large depression on the anterior, medial, and inferior portion of the humerus, in which the ulna fits when the elbow is flexed

Lateral Epicondyle

Small projection on the lateral side of the arm, near the radial fossa

Medial Epicondyle

Large projection on the medial side of the arm, near the coronoid fossa

Capitulum

Rounded projection on the inferior portion of the humerus upon which the radial head moves when the elbow flexes

Trochlea

Large, rounded shape on the inferior portion of the humerus upon which the ulna moves when the elbow flexes

Olecranon Fossa

Large depression on the posterior & inferior part of the arm, in which the ulna fits upon elbow extension (when the arm is straightened)

Neck of the Humerus

The narrowed portion of the humerus between the head and shaft of the bone; has 2 parts (the anatomical neck and surgical neck)
