세계 각국의 정부들이 경제 성장의 기회를 창출해 내려고 하듯이, 점점 더 많은 국가들이 관광산업을 개발하고자 노력하고 있다

While there are undoubted financial benefits associated with attracting visitors from abroad, it can be a double-edged sword because of the problems linked to an increase in tourists

해외에서 방문객을 유치하는 것과 관련해서 확실한 재정적 이득이 있는 반면에, 이것은 관광객의 증가와 연계된 문제들 때문에 양날의 검이 될 수 있다.

There are at least a couple of positives that the tourism industry generates.

Some countries rely on tourism to make up a significant portion of their gross domestic product.

For example, the construction of seaside resorts along with bars and clubs cannot only ruin coastal scenery

예를 들면, 술집이나 클럽들과 함께 해변 휴양지가 건설되는 것은 해양 경치를 망칠 뿐만 아니라,

but also encourage an inappropriate atmosphere for local children and families

Aside from such a scenario in undeveloped countries, people who live in big cities often complain that an increase in the number of tourists exacerbates congestion

Places like Seoul, Tokyo and New York are already overcrowded and their transport systems are under strain without the influx of more international travellers

In conclusion, although there are clear motivations for a country to develop its tourism industry, the drawbacks of such a policy should not be ignored because of general infrastructure concerns and the potential damage to the environment and local communities

결론적으로, 비록 한 국가가 관광산업을 개발하고자 하는 분명한 동기가 있더라도, 그러한 정책의 결정은 전반적인 사회기반 시설에 대한 염려와 자연환경과 지역사회에 입힐 잠재적 피해 때문에 무시되어서는 안된다
