Cluster A Personality Disorders
Weird/Schizo- Odd or eccentric behaviors seen in schizophrenia
Paranoid personality disorder
Feel targeted & believe others have malicious intentions- do not trust/confide in others, avoid relationships- angry/standoffish
Schizoid personality disorder
Express emotion very little- do not seek out relationships
Schizoptypical personality disorder
“Awkward” extreme discomfort in close relationships, odd patterns of thinking & perceiving, behavioral eccentricities-avoid intimacy

Dramatic, emotional, erratic behavior

Disregard for others’ rights- “psychopaths”- apathetic, actively seeking out ways to harm others, commonly criminals

extreme mood swings & instability- changes in self-image, boredom, and mood- sh/suicide
Histrionic personality disorder
Dramatic attention seeking behavior- exaggerate illnesses
Narcissistic personality disorder
Unrealistically self-centered- need admiration and expect special treatment- can’t take criticism and lack empathy

Avoidant personality disorder
Feelings of inadequacy, discomfort in social environment- sensitive to negative evaluation, fear of rejection/ humiliation
Dependent personality disorder
Overly clingy/needy & obedient- need to be taken care of by others, others make decisions

Perfectionism & rigidity- rules, schedules, details-person loses flexibility, openness, and efficiency
