Terraced Dynamics

Used during Baroque period, abrupt changes in dynamics

Rhythm

Movement of music in time with recording beats/accents (Like a moving phrase)

Beat

A reoccurring rhythmic pulse of music (somewhat strict tempo)

Pitch

The highness or lowness of a sound

Rallentando

Gradually get slower or decrease in pace

Melody

A succession of notes perceived as a meaningful line

Diatonic Scale

Minor Scale

Pentatonic Scale

Often found in folk music and non-western, Asia music

Sequence

Melodic phrase repeated a different pitch levels

Candence

The close of musical phrase.

Tonic

The first note of a major/minor scale

Harmony

Combination of notes which form chords

Chord

Three or more notes heard simultaneously

Triad

Is a chord with at least three tones of intervals of a third.

Dissonance

Chord with a harsh/unsettling sound

Consonance

Chord with a pleasing or stable sound

Monopsony/monophonic Music

A single unaccompanied.melodic line; can be sung by multiple voices

Homophony/Homophonic Music

A musical texture consisting of tow or more melodies played simultaneously
