Criterion Validity
Correlation between test scores and a criterion (correlation X-Y).
Validity Coefficient
Correlation between test scores and criterion (correlation X-Y).
Coefficient of Determination (R2)
Percentage of variance of Y associated with or explained by X.
R2 = 1
100% of the variance in Y is explained by the variance in X; i.e. Increase from 10 to 20 = entirely explained by increase in X.
R2 < 1
Less than 100% of the variance in Y is explained by the variance in X; i.e. Increase in y = explained only partly by the variability in X.
