What is a commissioning procedure?

A written, repeatable plan used to verify that equipment or systems perform according to the project requirements and Sequence of Operations.

What documents should be reviewed before writing a procedure?

Sequence of Operations, controls drawings, P&IDs, equipment submittals, OEM manuals, plans, specifications, one-lines where applicable, cause-and-effect matrices, and commissioning requirements.

What should a good procedure contain?

Prerequisites, safety requirements, required personnel, required equipment, initial conditions, step-by-step actions, expected results, data fields, pass/fail criteria, abort criteria, restoration steps, and signoffs.

What makes a good test step?

It should clearly state: Action -> Expected Response -> Required Verification. Example: Command CHWP-1 OFF. Expected: CHWP-1 status changes to OFF and standby CHWP-2 starts after the programmed delay.

Why should failure scenarios be included?

Because commissioning must prove not only normal operation but also how the system responds to abnormal conditions such as equipment failure, sensor failure, or loss of power.
