What is the purpose of Erythrocytes?

controls blood pressure
What is intravascular pressure?
actual blood pressure in lumen of any vessel at any point relative to barometric pressure
What is transmural pressure?
difference between intravascular pressure of vessel and pressure surrounding vessel
When is the transmural pressure negative or positive?
positive when pressure inside vessel exceeds pressure outside vessel (expansion)
negative when pressure inside vessel is less than pressure surrounding vessel (collapse)
What is the driving pressure?
pressure difference between pressure at one point in vessel and pressure at any other point downstream in vessel
What is the Pulmonary Arterial Pressure?
the pressure within the pulmonary arteries carrying deoxygenated blood from heart to lungs
What is the Pulmonary Vascular Resistance?
the opposition to blood flow within the pulmonary vascular system
What are Corner Vessels?
Small blood vessels located at the junctions of the capillary bed
What is Hemodynamics?
the study of blood flow and the forces involved in circulation within the cardiovascular system
