Newton’s First Law of Motion
INERTIA. objects remain in motion/at rest unless acted upon by an outside force.
Newton’s Second Law of Motion
FORCE. The acceleration of an object is equal to the net force acting on it divided by an object’s mass.
Newton’s Third Law of Motion
OPPOSITE REACTION. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
First Law of Thermodynamics
CONSERVATION. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed. It can only be transferred from one form to another.
Second Law of Thermodynamics
ENTROPY. Disorder (entropy) in the universe always increases. As disorder in the universe increases, the energy is transformed into less usable forms. Efficiency of a process will ALWAYS be less than 1%.
Third Law of Thermodynamics
all molecular movement stops at absolute zero (0 Kelvin). Since temp is a measure of molecular movement, there can be no temperature lower than absolute zero. At this temp, a perfect crystal has no disorder.
diffraction
bending of waves as they pass THROUGH or AROUND an object
refraction
chagne in direction of waves as they pass FROM ONE MEDIUM TO ANOTHER
reflection
change in the direction of waves when they BOUNCE off a barrier.
