Aerobic power
The maximum rate of ATP energy production from the aerobic energy system in the presence of oxygen
VO2 max
Maximum oxygen consumption; considered the best measure of aerobic power.
Anaerobic capacity
The amount of ATP energy production from the anaerobic energy systems without oxygen
Muscular strength
The peak force that a muscle (or muscle group) can produce against a resistance in one maximal contraction, represented as 1-rep max (1RM)
Muscular endurance
The ability of a muscle or group of muscles to sustain repeated contractions against a resistance for an extended period of time.
Muscular power
The ability to exert a maximal amount of force in the shortest period of time (explosive effort), created by a combination of strength and speed.
Speed
The rate of motion and ability to move the whole body, or body parts from one place to another in the shortest possible time.
Agility
The ability to change direction or body position quickly and accurately, whilst maintaining balance.
Flexibility
The range of movement around a joint or sequence of joints, which can be static or dynamic.
Balance
The ability to maintain equilibrium while performing a desired task, whether stationary (static) or moving (dynamic).
Coordination
The ability to use different parts of the body together smoothly and efficiently, or to execute motor skills smoothly and accurately.
Activity Analysis
The recording and analysis of movement and skill data from a game, sport or activity, used to breakdown requirements for a training program.
Skill frequency
The recording of how often a skill or movement is performed, often referred to as statistics.
Movement patterns
The assessment of how and where a player moves, including the intensity of those movements, during a game or activity.
Informed consent
A process outlining risks, participant rights, and confidentiality to minimize the risk of harm to the performer and administrator during testing.
Pre-participation health screening (PAR-Q)
A series of questions about a participant's current health used to determine the level of risk and readiness for fitness testing or exercise.
heart rate data
provides data on individual’s HR responses during exercise
work to rest ratios
summary of the time an athlete spends physically working compared to the time spent resting or recovering
validity
refers to the degree to which a test measured what it’s supposed to measure
accuracy
the results recorded are a true reflection of what is being tested
reliability
the ability to reproduce consistent test results if the test is performed multiple times
