SMART Goals
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound objectives essential for scientific reasoning.
Exothermic Reaction
A chemical reaction that releases energy, such as burning wood or dissolving NaOH in water.
Chemical Bond
A lasting attraction between atoms, which can be covalent (shared electrons) or ionic (lost/gained electrons).
Atomic Number
The number of protons in an element, representing its identity.
Atomic Mass
The sum of protons and neutrons in an atom, also known as Mass Number.
Noble Gases
Inert gases with fully filled outer electron shells, making them stable.
tRNA (transfer RNA)
Molecule that transports specific amino acids to ribosomes during protein synthesis.
Meiosis
Cell division that results in 4 haploid daughter cells, each with half the chromosome number of the parent.
Mitosis
Cell division that results in 2 identical daughter cells, occurring in somatic cells.
Homozygous
Having two identical alleles for a trait, can be dominant (FF) or recessive (ff).
Redox Reaction
Chemical reactions involving oxidation (loss of electrons) and reduction (gain of electrons).
pH Scale
A scale that measures the acidity or basicity of a substance; lower pH means more acidic.
Mitochondria
Organelles responsible for ATP production through cellular respiration.
Circulatory System
System that includes arteries carrying oxygen-rich blood and veins carrying oxygen-poor blood.
Digestive Enzymes
Biological catalysts like pepsin, amylase, lipase, and maltase that aid in digestion.
Diaphragm
A muscle that contracts to expand the lungs for inhalation and relaxes to constrict for exhalation.
Erythropoietin
Hormone that stimulates the production of red blood cells.
