Harris: Don’t worry.
Major, is he going to be alright?
Captain, I’ve been here 18 months and this is the damndest thing I’ve ever seen…It kept the mine from slipping far enough to detonate.
What about Sergeant Galen?! How long is going to take you to get him out of there?
Harris: I can’t.
What do you mean?
Harris: I mean I can’t get him out of there. He’s a dead man
What are you talking about?! Your the bomb disposal expert! You’ve got to get my man out of there!
Harris: Watch yourself Captain….I’m sorry for him. But I can’t help him.
How’d he take it?
Harris: I didn’t tell him.
Why not??
Galen: Captain!
How you doing Sergeant?
Galen: Fine sir. What did the major say?
Well, he said it’s a tricky situation Sergeant. But he’s going to do everything he can. He needs to go back to regiment to get some equipment. I’m going to check on the men.
Galen: Sir!
Yes?
Galen: Promise you won’t leave me here sir.
I promise Sergeant.
Lieutenant: Excuse me sir, Regiment just called. They want us to move three kliks down to Brasda. They don’t want to bring the Blackhawks in so close to the mountains.
When do they want us to do that?
Lieutenant: Right away sir, the Hawks’ ETO is 14:00. They want us out of here before dusk.
Well how the hell am I supposed to do that with Galen stuck on that tree?! Did you explain that to them?!
Lieutenant: No sir.
Well you get regiment back on the radio and tell them that I have a man in trouble here and I am not about to leave him. Ask them for some reinforcements so I can secure our position. And see if they can get us some air cover. I’m going to check the perimeter.
Galen: GET ME OUT OF HERE! GET ME OUT OF HERE!
Did you get ahold of regiment.
Lieutenant: Yes sir.
Well what did they say?!
Lieutenant: They said no dice sir. Once the front moves in this whole area will be socked in for three days. The Colonel wants us to pull out right now. She wants us in Brasda at 14:00, that’s in an hour. The choppers will be there to pull us out.
What about Galen?
Lieutenant: Colonel said she’s sorry, but she can’t risk the whole company for one man.
That’s real easy for her to say isn’t it?! Sitting on her butt at headquarters?!
Lieutenant: Begging your pardon sir, but if we’re going to make Brasda by 14:00 we need to get moving now.
And what exactly do I tell Galen? Sorry Sarge, we’ve got a flight to catch?
Lieutenant: If we miss those coppers, we’ll be stuck here just like him.
I promised I wouldn’t leave him! He’s got a family back home!
Lieutenant: So do I, So does everyone else in the company. There's not a person here who wouldn't do anything to help Galen. But if the Major can't do anything, neither an we. All we can do is get out of here
All right Lieutenant, you want to leave, we’ll leave. I’ll get the men moving. You’re telling Galen
Lieutenant: But…
No buts, Lieutenant! That’s an order! You explain it to him, you’re good at it.
