Endocrine Therapy

• A therapy with organ products or extracts.

Conjugated Estrogen

Refers to the mixture of the sodium salts of the sulfate esters of the estrogenic substances that are or the type excreted by pregnant mares is used orally.

Disorders | Gonadal Hyperactivity

• Excessive therapy may result in a precocious or excessive sexual development, depression or anteriorpituitary

Disorders | Gonadal Hypoactivity

• Natural menopause or surgical removal of the gonads results in a sexual repression and enhanced anterior pituitary activities, with psychic disturbance and the involvement of other endocrine glands, particularly the thyroid.

Gonads

The ovaries and testes are exocrine (ova, sperm)

as endocrine (hormonal) in function.

Product | Stomach Concentrate

• Is prepared from the mucosal glands of porcine stomach walls.

• It contains the intrinsic factor which increases the number of red corpuscles in the blood.

• The intrinsic factor containing stomach concentrate is combined with vitamin B2 or with liver extract.

Functions of Hormomes

• It is a chemical transmitters of selective stimuli between the various endocrine glands and specific body organs and tissue:

  • These chemically mediated stimuli regulate metabolic processes growth and development of the body organs.

The Testes

• Hypogonadism: Is a failure of adequate development of the testis, due to pituitary disorder, infection or other disease.

• Due to Testis Tumors: this results in precocious development of sex organs and male characteristics. Therapy is surgical.

Hyperchromic

Macrocytic anemia (Addisonian Pernicious Anemia). This condition was first described by Combe in 1822, and later by Addison in 1840.

Gastrointestinal Disturbances

Smoothing &inflammation of the tongue, digestive disturbances and diarrhea associated with lack of gastric HCl

Liver and Stomach

• The essential substance is refined to as the

  "antianemia principle"

  (AAP) or the "Erythrocyte - maturing factor" (EMF).

• Deficiency: Pernicious anemia

Ova

• Develop within ovarian follicles under the influence of the follicle stimulating hormone of anterior pituitary.

• The ruptured follicle undergoes cellular change to become the corpus leteum under the influence of the luteinizing hormone of anterior pituitary.

Estradiol or Estra

1, 3, 5 (10) - triene - 3, 17ß -diol is used orally, IM, and implanted subcutaneously → Aquadiol, Progynon

Estriol or Estra

1, 3, 5 (10) triene - 3 ol-16 a, 17ß triol is used orally. → Theelol

Adrenocorticotropin (ACTH) or Corticotropin

• Treats disease collagen like rheumatoid

  arthritis and rheumatoid fever.

Oxytocin Injection (Pitocin Ampoules, Syntocinon)

A sterile solution in water for injection of an oxytocic principle prepared by synthesis or obtained from the posterior lobe of the pituitary.

Progestin

Elaborated by the corpus leteum and in the latter half of pregnancy by the placenta.

Endocrine Glands

An Endocrine or "ductless" gland means a secreting organ present in the mammalian body, which elaborates one or more metabolically active principles (hormones) and passes these directly to the blood stream.

Oxytocin (a-hypophamine)

is the uterine stimulating hormone.

Gonads | Follicle Stimulating Hormones

Leads to the development of the ovarian follicles, to their formation of ova and of estrogen, and to the development of the testes and the maturation of the spermatozoa.

Gonads | Luteinizing Hormone

Is necessary to the development of the corpora lutea in the ovarian follicles after ovulation to the formation of progesterone by the corpora lutea and to the production of androgen in the matured testes.

Testosterone

• Or 17ß - hydroxyandrost-4-ene-3-one is the active male hormone.

• Not administered orally, instead may be used buccally, implanted subcutaneously or IM.

Vasopressin (B-Hypophamine)

is the antidiuretic hormone.

Liver Injection

• Is a preparation containing a partially

  purified extract of a liver.

• Classifies as a hematopoietic substance, and contains vitamin B12 folic acid and follic acid.
