Police Executive Research Forum (PERF): held one day session for officers, administrators, and community members to discuss strategies for rebuilding trust between police and the community
Outcome was:

Some of the programs discussed are implicit bias training, de-escalation of force training, cultural competency training, changing how officers are evaluated and promoted, community service in police academy training, training police officers to police one another, and Adopt a Cop programs
Promoting and supporting youth development
mentoring, tutoring, PAL, police-athletic leagues, a Chief’s Youth Advisory Board, police cadet programs, officer friendly programs in schools and youth/police dialogues
Connecting residents to community resources
mental health clinicians riding with officers, mental health officers, social workers stationed in police departments, quality-of-life officers, police/human services/school partnership to divert low-level offenders to services that include school retention strategies, citation and release, and diversion from arrest
Building personal relationships between officers and residents
pop-up barbecues, bike patrols, police/youth chats, Coffee with a Cop programs, Open Up programs, police attending community meetings, police walks with community groups, and trust walks
