Propaganda

Communication that is used to influence public opinion or cause action.

Surveillance

Monitoring behavior, activities or information.

Censorship

The restriction of free speech, the exchange of ideas, or other public information that the government thinks will be harmful.

Persecution of Political Rivals

When a leader punishes others who try to lead or share their views on how the government should be ran.

Persecution of Groups of People

Hostility toward, or harassing someone based on the their race, ethnicity, religion, or other beliefs.

Intimidation

To make someone fearful in order to do something or behave in a certain way.

Forced Conformity

Forcing citizens to change their culture or ways of behavior.

Suppression of Democracy

Not letting citizens have a say in their government.

Removal of Civil Liberties

Taking away the ability of people to do, think or act, as they please.
