Death of King Louis XVI
After attempting to flee the country, King Louis was caught and jailed. He was then sentenced to death by the National Committee.
King Louis XVII
Son of King Louis XVI. He spent most his life in prison and was shortly 'king' when his dad was executed, but he didn't hold any power

Marie Antionette was executed at the beginning of the Reign of Terror 9 months after her husband. She had been convicted of incest and treason.

Napoleon - early life
Napoleon was born in Corsica and attended military school. He quickly became a general at 24 was very successful
Crossing the Alps
In an attempt to ambush Italy Napoleon crossed the Alps. This non-traditional military march is seen as a genius tactic by Napoleon.
Napoleon in Egypt
Due to Napoleon's military successes, the government sent him to Egypt to cut off British trade to India in an attempt to stop him from gaining political power. While in Egypt he brought scholars to study Egyptian culture, but his military campaign was unsuccessful. Despite this, Napoleon was able to make his campaign seem successful through propaganda.
Coronation of Napoleon
Although the French Revolution got rid of the Catholic Church, many French citizens remained Catholic. Napoleon decided to bring the Catholic Church back and coronated himself Emperor of France. During the coronation Napoleon snatched the crown from the Pope and crowned himself.
Napoleon Exile 1 - Elba
After losing to European powers, Napoleon was exiled to Elba, an island in the Mediterranean. After living there for one year, he escaped by boat and returned to France.
King Louis XVIII
King Louis XVI's brother. He fled France during the French Revolution and was brought back power once Napoleon was banished to Elba. When Napoleon returned to France, he fled to Belgium and he ruled a decade after Napoleon's exile to St. Helena
Congress of Vienna (1815)
After Napoleon was finally defeated by European powers, the Congress of Vienna took place in order to balance the powers of Europe to coexist peacefully, enclose France's borders, and restore conservative order.
Hundred Days
After Napoleon returned to France from Elba, The Hundred Days was a period between his return and his banishment to St. Helena
Battle of Waterloo
Napoleon was defeated by 2 Coalition armies. This was his final battle.
Napoleon Exile 2 - St. Helena
After being defeated by European powers again, Napoleon was banished to St. Helena to make sure he never came back to power again. St. Helena is a very isolated island in the Atlantic. He died on St. Helena at 51 from stomach cancer.
