Describe the sustainable development goals

The 17 sustainable development goals, introduced in 2016 are a global plan to address major challenges by 2030. They were developed my United Nations member states and other stakeholders, they include 169 targets aimed at ending poverty, promoting health, empowering women, addressing climate change and ensuring peace and equality.

Population group outcome targets for SDG3

Reduce maternal mortality, end preventable deaths of newborns and children under 5

Disease group outcome targets for SDG3

end epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases

address hepatitis, waterborne diseases and other communicable diseases

reduce non-communicable diseases and promote mental health and wellbeing

Causes of burden of disease outcome targets for SDG 3

reduce road traffic accidents

reduce deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and contamination

reduce substance abuse including drugs and alcohol

Universal health care action targets of SDG 3

achieve universal health coverage, including quality health care, essential medicines and vaccines

access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services

Early warning action target of SDG3

have systems in place for early warning, prevention and management of risks to health and wellbeing

Medicine and research action targets of SDG3

Support the research and development of vaccines and medicines for communicable and non-communicable diseases

Support investment in health services and trained medical workers to expand access to healthcare

Substance control action targets of SDG3

implement the WHO framework convention on tobacco control

strengthen prevention and treatment services for substance abuse

What is the difference between key feature actions and key feature outcomes

the actions are the changes that must be made to ensure progress towards the outcome related features whereas the outcomes are what is trying to be achieved by 2030
