Newtons 1st law
An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion continues at a constant velocity, unless acted upon by a net external force.
Newtons 2nd law
The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass, pointing in the same direction as the net force.
Newtons 3rd law
Whenever one object exerts a force on a second object, the second object exerts an equal in magnitude and opposite in direction force on the first object.
1st law example
hockey puck as it continues its constant speed in a straight line until acted upon by friction or a barrier
2nd law example
pushing an empty grocery cart resulting in rapid acceleration. Applying the same force to a fully loaded cart produces smaller acceleration due to the increased mass.
3rd law example
A walking pedestrian pushes backward on the ground with their foot, and the static friction from the ground pushed forward on the foot with equal magnitude.
