loss of functional skills or orientation, memory loss, lack of spontaneity

patient is aware of losses

unable to carryout job, hobby or other meaningful activities

unable to handle money, drive car, tell time

question if they can live alone

stage 2 alzheimers

progressive memory loss, presence of variety of neurological symptoms

aphasia, apraxia, wandering, repetitive movements, stereotypical behavior, increased/decreased appetite, wide based gait

psychotic symptoms

stage 3 alzheimers

vegetative symptoms develop

mute, stop eating, incontinent

muscle twitches or jerks, spasms of diaphragm, inability to walk

can develop seizures

eventually dies
