Central Nervous system(CNS)
the bodies coordinating center for mechanical and chemical actions; made up of the brain and spinal cord.
Peripheral Nervous System(PNS)
all arts of the nervous System, excluding brain and spinal cord, that relays info between the central nervous system and other parts of the body.
Somatic Nerves
voluntary movement = requires the brain.
sensory and motor.
part of peripheral Nervous system
automatic nerves and what two things is it broken down to(slower and faster processes)
Involuntary movement= like blinking, doesn’t require thinking to do it
has sympathetic(faster) and parasympathetic(slower) =sensory and motor
Neuron
conducts nerve impulse(sensory, inter, motor neurons) each organized into tissues called nerves(individual neurons).
Glial cells
non conducting cells
(structural support), nourish neurons, remove waste.
Creates homeostasis
supports and protects neurons.
Dendrites
receive information, conduct impulse towards the cell body.
Axon
Conducts nerve impulses away from cell body to other neurons of effectors
covered with a mylen sheath
produced by the shwann cell
Mylen sheath
fatty protein that acts as an insulator
Shwann cell
special glial cell
creates mylen sheath
nerve regeneration=repair and regrowth
provides support and nutrients.
Cell body
contains nucleus
Mylenated
unmylenated
