Paranoid Personality Disorder
Unwarranted mistrust and have an expectation of being harmed by others. They are jealous, hypersensitive, lack a sense of humor, and have an inability to relax. They are critical of others, but they can not take criticism themselves.
Schizoid Personality Disorder
Inability to form a close personal relationships, flat affect, ideas of reference/magical thinking, and they may live in their parent’s home into their adult years. People with this disorder often appear aloof and detached, showing little interest in social interactions or emotional connections.
Schizotypal Personality Disorder
Decreased capacity for close relationships, inappropriate clothing, speech is loose and vague, flat affect, grandiose view of self, and preoccupation with fantasies of success/brilliance/ideal love. Very similar to schizophrenia symptoms (ex: Gaston from Beauty in the Beast).
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Problems in development of superego and referred to as a sociopath. They are impulsive, unable to sustain employment, they have multiple arrests, physically aggressive, and unreliable. They usually have problems begin in adolescence with conduct disorder or oppositional defiant disorder (ex: Most Unsubs from Criminal Minds)
Conduct Disorder
Physical aggression with violation of other’s rights. They have an absence of guilt or remorse. Academic achievement is low despite IQ and is associated with ADHD.
Oppositional Defiant Disorder
Starts around 8 years olds. They are angry, passive aggressive, stubborn, disobedient, careless, and unwilling to compromise. They procrastinate, skip school, run away, have temper tantrums, start fights, and are underachieving.
Borderline Personality Disorder
They have problems developing a sense of self/identity and they have not developed the ability to be alone. They need attention because they feel they are going to be abandoned, they are very labile, they are always in “crisis”, they are manipulative/splitting, very impulsive, and suicidal ideations.
Histrionic Personality Disorder
Attention-seeking, self-centered, use of suicidal gestures or threats to get attention, full of superlative adjectives in speech, sexual seduction and they are dramatic, and they crave immediate satisfaction (ex: Michael Scott from the Office)
Narcissistic Personality Disorder
They have little to no emotion and they are seen as eccentric, isolated, and lonely. They have an absence of warm feelings for others, an indifference to praise and criticism, or feelings for others.
Avoidant Personality Disorder
They have social discomfort, sensitive to rejection, and anxious. They have low self-esteem and are afraid to make a mistake. They usually stay in entry level jobs.
Dependent Personality Disorder
They are submissively clingy and desperately seek relationships. They lack self-confidence and they see themself as helpless and stupid.
Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder
They are perfectionists and inflexible. They have a restricted affect and they interpret things literally. They have difficulty working with others (ex: Sheldon from Big Bang Theory)
