Research
It is a systematic effort to gain new knowledge and is characterized by careful investigation or inquiry.
Applied Research
Scientific study aimed at solving practical problems rather than acquiring knowledge for its own sake.
Basic Research
Fundamental research driven by curiosity to expand knowledge, without immediate commercial value.
Correlational Research
A statistical study examining relationships between two or more variables without determining causation.
Descriptive Research
Research that accurately represents characteristics of a particular individual, situation, or group.
Ethnographic Research
In-depth investigation of a culture through systematic collection and analysis of data.
Experimental Research
A study where a treatment is intentionally introduced to observe its effects in a controlled environment.
Qualitative Research
Research dealing with phenomena difficult to quantify, focusing on beliefs, meanings, and attributes.
Quantitative Research
Systematic empirical investigation of phenomena using statistical, mathematical, or computational techniques.
Plagiarism
The appropriation of someone else's ideas, processes, results, or words without proper credit.
Fabrication
Making up results and recording or reporting them, often referred to as 'dry labbing'.
Falsification
Manipulating research materials or data so that the research isn't accurately represented.
Criteria of Good Research
Good research is systematic, logical, empirical, and replicable, allowing verification of results.
Ethics in Research
Adherence to ethical norms ensuring the validity and integrity of research.
