The Components of Physical Fitness are divided into two major categories:
Health-Related Fitness, and Skill-Related Fitness
Refers to the components of physical fitness that are directly associated with good health and the prevention of diseases.
Health-Related Fitness
There are five components of health-related fitness.
Cadiovascular Endurance, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, Flexibility, and Body Composition
Is the ability of the heart, lungs, and circulatory system to deliver oxygen-rich blood to the working muscles during prolonged physical activity. It reflects how efficiently the body uses oxygen while performing continuous movements.
Cardiovascular Endurance
Is the maximum amount of force that a muscle or muscle group can produce in a single effort. It determines how much weight or resistance a person can lift or move. Strong muscles improve posture, protect joints, and make everyday activities easier.
Muscular Strength
Is the ability of muscles to perform repeated contractions or maintain force over an extended period without becoming fatigued. Measures how long muscles can continue working.
Muscular Endurance
Is the ability of joints and muscles to move through their full range of motion. Good _____ allows smoother body movements and reduces stiffness.
Flexibility
Refers to the percentage of fat, muscle, bone, and water that make up the body. It is considered healthier to have a higher percentage of lean muscle and an appropriate level of body fat. _____ is different from body weight because two people may weigh the same but have different proportions of fat and muscle.
Body Composition
These components are particularly important in sports and activities requiring speed, coordination, and quick responses. Although _____ is often associated with athletes, it also benefits individuals in performing daily tasks safely and efficiently.
Skill-Related Fitness
What are the six components of skill-related fitness.
Agility, Balance, Coordination, Power, Reaction time, and Speed
is the ability to change body position or direction quickly and accurately while maintaining balance and control. Athletes in basketball, volleyball, football, and badminton rely heavily on ____ to avoid opponents and react quickly during play.
Agility
Is the ability to use different body parts together smoothly and efficiently to perform a movement accurately. ______ requires the eyes, brain, muscles, and nervous system to work together.
Coordination
is the ability to maintain body stability whether stationary or moving. It allows individuals to remain upright and controlled during physical activities.
Balance
Is the ability to exert maximum force in the shortest possible time. It combines muscular strength and speed. ______ is essential in explosive movements
Power
is the amount of time it takes for a person to respond to a stimulus. Quick ____ allows faster decision-making and movement.
Reaction Time
Is the ability to move the body or body parts quickly from one place to another within the shortest possible time. ____ depends on muscular strength, coordination, and reaction time.
Speed
