Hypothesis
A written statement of one sentence that includes independent and dependent variables, uses clear and concise language, and excludes explanations, reasons, or personal bias.
Aim
The purpose of an experiment that starts with "to determine," mentions the independent and dependent variables, uses specific language, and avoids predictions.
Horizontal axis
The x-axis of a graph which contains the independent variable.
Vertical axis
The y-axis of a graph which contains the dependent variable.
Graph Axis Labeling
The requirement that each axis must be labeled and include units in brackets, such as temperature (c).
Independent variable placement
In time graphs, this variable is located on the horizontal or x-axis.
Dependent variable placement
In time graphs, this variable is located on the vertical or y-axis.
