Population Growth
The increase in the number of individuals in a population.
Urbanization
The process by which more people move from rural areas to cities, resulting in their growth.
Demographic Transition
The shift from high birth and death rates to low birth and death rates as a country develops.
Suburbanization
The process of population movement from within towns and cities to the rural-urban fringe.
Gentrification
A process whereby wealthier people move into a previously lower-income neighborhood, causing property values and rents to rise and displacing current inhabitants.
Food Insecurity
A situation in which a household lacks consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life.
Residential Segregation
The physical separation of two or more groups into different neighborhoods.
Overpopulation
A condition where an organism's numbers exceed the carrying capacity of its habitat.
Carrying Capacity
The maximum number of individuals an environment can support without detrimental effects.
Natural Population Increase
The difference between the number of births and deaths in a population.
