why surface area affects rate of reaction rate.
because more particles are exposed to reactants
catalysts
Catalyst reduce reaction time and enables products to be made quickly without being used up
enzymes
enzymes are biological catalysts
covalent compound (1,2,3,4,5)
Mono, di, tri, tetra, penta
covalent compound(6,7,8)
hexa,hepta,octa.
Explain what a catalyst is and give an example of a catalyst.
Catalysts : A catalyst is a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without being used up.
Catalysts enables/helps the reaction to occur at a lower temperature.
Example: Catalytic convertors(containing Platinum) in the car converts toxic carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide
what is activation energy
Activation energy is the minimum amount of energy needed to start a chemical reaction.
Factors that affect rate of a reaction are
1.Concentration
2. Temperature
3. Pressure
4. Surface area
5. Catalysts/enzymes
6. Agitation (stirring)
ionic bond
formed by the transfer on electrons between metal and non metal, metal lose electron and make cation and gain charge. Non metal gain electron and lose charge
Covalent bond
formed by sharing of valence sharing electrons between 2 or more non metals.
metallic bond
A metallic bond is formed by the transfer of electrons between metal ions and a shared "sea" of freely moving, delocalized electrons
