Higher in fiber compared to animal-based proteins.
Regenerative Agriculture
Conservation and rehabilitation approach to food and farming that focuses on topsoil regeneration, increasing biodiversity, and enhancing ecosystem services.
Primary Objective of Food Preservation
Minimizing spoilage and prolonging the usability of food products.
Six Principles of Sustainability
Optimizing resource use, minimizing waste, protecting ecosystems and biodiversity, promoting circularity, fostering climate resilience, and fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Healthier Breakfast Characteristics
Lower saturated fat, salt, and overall calories while providing more fiber.
Sustainability Barrel
A concept used to illustrate how the most limiting factor restricts overall system sustainability, regardless of other strengths.
Ripple Effect
A concept describing how a single action in a food system or ecosystem can cause a series of indirect and widespread consequences.
Best Management Practices
Scientifically informed strategies or methods implemented in agriculture or food production to minimize environmental impact and ensure efficient resource use.
Sustainable Agriculture
A food system approach that aims to meet current food needs while pursuing environmental health, economic profitability, and social equity for future generations.
Alternative Proteins
Nontraditional sources of protein such as insects, plant-based products, and lab-grown meat developed to address food security and reduce environmental burden.
Nutraceuticals
Dietary components that offer potential health benefits beyond basic nutrition, often used to prevent diseases or enhance physical performance.
Alternative proteins and crickets
Alternative proteins like crickets can help solve global problems such as hunger and environmental damage. Although people aren’t comfortable with eating insects, companies like bugbites, can change this with the right strategies - like education, quality control, and better product development. If everyone start using them, the global food system will become better and sustainable. Crickets are health and eco-friendly protein source that use fewer resources than traditional livestock, they are rich in protein, minerals and vitamins
