Double-blind Study

Both the researchers and the participants are unaware of certain critical details, such as which participants are assigned to the experimental group and which are in the control group

Single-blind Study

participants are unaware of which treatment or intervention they are receiving, while the researchers or experimenters are aware of the group assignments.

P-hacking

Manipulating statistical analyses to obtain a statistically significant result

Confirmation Bias

Favoring evidence that confirms what you already believe while ignoring evidence that challenges it

Pre-registration

publicly declaring and documenting the research deign hypotheses, methods and analysis plan before data collection begins.

Researcher triangulation

Include researchers or statisticians not connected to the research to interpret data.

Method triangulation

Using more than one method to study same quesiton

Data Triangulation

Using different sources of data to study same question

Personal reflexivity

Researchers self reflect their own values, beliefs, experiences to see how they influence their understanding, actions, and interpretations of the world

Epistemological reflexivity

Reserchers self reflect on how their methods may have influenced findings.

Audit trail

documentation of the research process that allows others to track the steps taken throughout the study

Positionally

Acknowledges how the researchers social and cultural identity impacts their role in the research process

Pilot Interview

A practice run of the actual interview you plan to conduct for your study to test out interview questions and see their effects on the interviewee
