Where can the roots of Liberalism be found?

It can be found in the European Enlightenment 16th-17th

What did early liberals argue?

That humans were born free and morally equal & no one has the natural right to rule over others

Therefore what if they argued that, what? and What did it attack?

All laws & government must be justified, not accepted blindly or based purely on inherited tradition or custom. Directly attacked natural form of Gov at the time, : absolute monarchy.

What did it promote?

A belief in reason rather than faith and advocated the importance of the individual and freedom

What was early Liberalism like?

Early Liberalism was radical & potentially revolutionary, ideas were central to the American Declaration of Independence 1776 & French Revolution 1789

Has Liberalism developed into different variants?

Yes, Classical or traditional liberalism dominated until late 19thC and Modern Liberalism has dominated since then.
