Highest Mountain Chains of Southern Asia
Major mountain ranges located in the southern part of Asia, including Himalaje, Karakorum, and Hindukusz.

K2 (Czogori)
The second highest peak on Earth (8611m n.p.m.), located in the Karakorum range. It was the longest unclimbed 8000-meter peak in winter until 10 Nepalese climbers reached its summit in January 2021.
Ośmiotysięczniki
Mountain peaks whose absolute height exceeds 8000m n.p.m. All 14 of the world's 8000-meter peaks are located in Asia.
Mount Everest
The highest peak on Earth, reaching an elevation of 8848m n.p.m.
Wybrzeże Morza Martwego
The lowest land depression on Earth, situated at 430m p.p.m. along the shore of the Dead Sea.
Maximum Elevation Contrast of Asia
The elevation difference of 9278m on a single continent, spanning from Mount Everest (8848m n.p.m.) down to wybrzeże Morza Martwego (430m p.p.m.).
Average Elevation of Asia
Asia has the highest average elevation among all permanently inhabited continents at 990m n.p.m., with areas above 1000m n.p.m. covering 30% of its surface area.
Kotlina Turfańska
A basin in western China containing the second deepest depression on Earth (154m p.p.m.) and experiencing extremely low annual rainfall of 20mm.
Sajany
One of the oldest mountain ranges in Asia, located on the border of Russia and Mongolia, with highest peaks exceeding 3000m n.p.m. Formed over 450mln years ago.
Oldest Geological Foundation of Asia
Rocks formed over 1.5mld years ago that form the basement of vast plains and plateaus, including Nizina Chińska, Nizina Zachodniosyberyjska, and Wyżyna Środkowosyberyjska.
Young Mountain Belts of Asia
Mountains created during the Alpine orogeny, arranged in a latitudinal southern belt (Kaukaz, Taurus, Zagros, Elburs, Hindukusz, Himalaje) and a longitudinal eastern belt (Góry Wierchojańskie, Góry Czerskiego, Góry Kołymskie, Kamczatka, Japan, Philippines).
Aktywna strefa sejsmiczna
Seismically active belts along young mountain ranges in Asia subject to frequent earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
Primary Factors Influencing Asian Climate
Geographical location and continent size, highland-mountain topography, monsoon circulation, and warm and cold ocean currents.
Monsun letni
A summer wind blowing from high pressure over cool oceans (Indian and Pacific Oceans) to low pressure over the heated Asian landmass, bringing heavy rainfall.
Monsun zimowy
A winter wind blowing from high pressure over the cold Asian landmass to low pressure over warmer oceans, resulting in dry conditions on land.

Cyrkulacja monsunowa
A seasonal wind system in South and Southeast Asia driven by pressure differences between the landmass and surrounding oceans.
Tajfuny
Tropical cyclones occurring in East and Southeast Asia during spring and autumn monsoon transitions, featuring wind speeds up to 200km/h and intense rainfall.
Kuro Siwo
A warm ocean current that moderates winter temperatures, cools adjacent land areas in summer, and delivers heavy precipitation.
Oja Siwo
A cold ocean current that lowers air temperatures and significantly decreases precipitation along coastal regions.
Cerapuńdźi
A city in India recorded as having one of the highest average annual precipitation levels in the world, exceeding 11000mm per year.
Układ promienisty
The radial drainage pattern of Asia's river network, where major rivers originate in central mountainous regions and flow outward into three surrounding oceans.
Jangcy
The longest river in Asia and third longest in the world, stretching a total length of 6380km.
Rzeki okresowe
Periodic rivers that contain water exclusively during the rainy season, typical in arid zones such as the Arabian Peninsula and Central Asia.
