fast and abrupt
I used fast and abrupt dynamics during my jumping travel sequence across the stage to highlight the speed at which wildfires and toxic gases are spreading.
slow and sustained
At the beginning of the dance I use slow and sustained dynamics in the hand circling and reach towards the audience to show the original properties of coal being soft and crumbly
sudden
When I transition into the 2nd section of my dance I use sudden dynamics in the highlight of stag jumping into a roll on the floor to emphasise the transition from being soft and crumbly, into substance that gathers heat energy to cause wildfires and toxic gases.
deceleration
At the end of my dance I used deceleration in the repetition of my opening motif where I circle my hands and reach towards the audience to evoke the feeling of exhaustion and disappointment in not being able to return to the beginning properties.Â
choreographic intention
The intention of my dance was how the properties of coal progress to become a devastating fossil fuel.
