Cell
Basic structural & functional unit of a living organism.
Tissue
Group of similar cells performing a specific function.
Organ
A structure composed of two or more tissue types, working together to perform specific functions.
Organ System
A group of organs that cooperate to accomplish a common purpose.
Organism
An individual living thing, made up of organ systems.
Movement
A necessary life function of an organism.
Responsiveness
A necessary life function of an organism.
Reproduction
A necessary life function of an organism.
Growth
A necessary life function of an organism.
Differentiation
Process in which unspecialized cells become specialized to perform specific functions.
Growth & Differentiation
Growth increases size/quantity of structural units, while differentiation makes units more specialized as you move from cells to tissues to organs to organ systems.
Levels of Organization
A hierarchical arrangement from cells to tissues to organs to organ systems to organism.
