Bystander Effect
Refers to the phenomenon in which a greater number of people hinders an individual from intervening in distressing situations
Diffusion of Responsibility
Happens during a distressing situation in which individuals in a group setting have a stronger tendency to assume someone else will take responsibility - they feel less pressure to take action individually since the responsibility is thought to be shared among everyone present
Coblabberation
The conversation held between two or more people, usually during a social event (art opening, concert, party, etc.), who discuss ideas and possible collaborative activities, even to the point of exchanging information, only to have all efforts fall flat and nothing ever becomes of it
Group Think
When a group follows what’s being said without offering room for debate/dissent; common if the same people are speaking regularly
Communication

What is a Motion
A formal proposal put to a legislature or committee (A motion should be as specific as possible)
Procedure of Motions
1: The member who made the motion has the privellege to speak first
2: Every member in good standing has the right to discuss, debate and vote
3: Discussion should always relate to the pending motion
a. Chair can make a point of order if discussion becomes off-topic or irrelevant
4: Each member may only speak once until every person who wishes to speak has spoken (for timeliness)
Paraphrasing
The most effect form of active listening. This is the most reliable way to avoid assumptions, and to make sure you and the speaker are on the same page.
