Series Circuit
A circuit where all components are connected end to end in a single line.
Constant Current
In a series circuit, the current remains the same throughout all components.
Voltage Drop
The difference in potential energy across each resistor in a series circuit.
Total Resistance (RT)
The sum of all individual resistances in a series circuit.
Ohm's Law
A formula used to find voltage, current, and resistance in a circuit (V = IR).
Series Resistors
Resistors arranged in a series circuit that share the same pathway for current flow.
Fault Detection
The process of identifying failures in a circuit, easier in series circuits due to simpler wiring.
Total Voltage (VT)
The sum of all individual voltage drops in a series circuit.
Proportional Relationship
In a series circuit, the voltage drop across a resistor is directly proportional to its resistance.
Christmas Lights Example
Illustrates how if one bulb in a series circuit is out, the entire strand stops working.
