Line
An element of art defined by a point moving in space. Line may be two-or-three-dimensional, descriptive, implied, or abstract.
Color
An element of art made up of three properties: hue, value, and intensity.
Hue
The name of Color.
Value
The lightness and darkness shade of color.
Intensity
The quality of color used to produce a value.
Perspective
An element of art that represents three-dimensional objects in a two-dimensional surface in a way that looks natural and realistic, creating an illusion of space and depth on a flat surface.
Space
An element of art by which positive and negative areas, or a sense of depth achieved in a work of art.
Form
The three dimensional and encloses volume, includes height, width and depth like cube, sphere, pyramid or a cylinder.
Shape
A two dimensional, flat, or limited to height and width.
Volume
An element of art that represents the mass in an artwork or a sculpture. Artists usually simulate volume in their paintings to give their paintings a three-dimensional effect.
Texture
An element of art that refers to the way things feel or look as if they might feel if touched.
Rhythm
Indicates movement, created by careful placement of repeated elements of arts.
Balance
A way of combining elements to produce stability to the work of art.
Emphasis
Use to stress the differences between elements (a focal point of art).
Proportion
Relationship of certain elements to the whole work of art.
Variety
Concerned with diversity or contrast.
Movement
Use to create the look and feeling of action and to guide viewer's eye throughout the work of art.
Unity
The combination of elements of arts.
Pattern
The uniform repetition of elements of arts.
