Name and describe the third level of protein structure.

Tertiary Level: the three-dimensional fold structure of most proteins.

How is the tertiary level formed?

formed from interactions between R-groups.

Give examples of the interactions in the tertiary level.(give at least 2)

Hydrogen bonds between polar amino acids, ionic bonds, covalent bonds between sulphur containing amino acids, hydrophobic interactions between non-polar amino acids.

Give the name of the fourth protein structure and what makes it.

quaternary level: made of 2 or more polypeptides.

Where does the bonding occur in the fourth level?

bonding occurs between the polypeptides or between the polypeptides and other molecules such as metals.

What makes the tertiary level and quaternary level similar?

All the interactions that occur in tertiary level also occur in quaternary level.
