The snake is a highly venomous species (e.g. some rattlesnakes, coral snakes)
The animal is excited or exercises after the bite (increases venom distribution)
Veterinary treatment is delayed (venoms start causing damage immediately)
Systemic effects develop (indicates a significant dose was received)
