Social Problem (Problemática social)
A problem that affects a large group of people in a society and needs to be studied and solved.
Background of a Social Problem (Antecedentes de la problemática social)
The history of the problem, including when it started, how it has evolved, and what has been done previously to try to solve it.
Selecting a Research Problem
The process of observing one's environment to identify which problems are most frequent, can be researched, and are of personal interest.
Two Systematic Stages to Generate Knowledge
The two sequential stages consisting of the Research stage (Etapa de investigación) and the Theoretical Elaboration stage (Etapa de elaboración teórica).
Science (Ciencia)
The set of objective and verifiable knowledge about a topic, obtained through the scientific method.
Research (Investigación)
A systematic and organized process that seeks to find answers to questions or solve a problem.

Method (Método)
Specific steps taken to perform or accomplish something.
Methodology (Metodología)
The science that studies all methods, techniques, and procedures used to conduct research in an ordered and systematic way.
Research Topic (Tema de investigación)
The main subject or idea to be investigated, representing 'what it is going to be about' (e.g., suicide or the use of social networks).
Five Research Methods
Knowledge (Conocimiento)
The set of information, ideas, and experiences that a person acquires through learning and experience.
Characteristics of Knowledge
Properties stating that knowledge is rational, objective, systematic, and verifiable.
