First initial meet to confirm that they actually want to be touched. If they appear to be showing interest, gently scratch their shoulder or chest (neutral zone) and if they move towards you, you're good, but if they leave than they are not interested

  • Prevent injury towards both canine and humans

What to do if a dog is reluctant to move

  • Crouch down to their level

  • Move to the side and break eye contact

  • Use treats/ toys to entice them forward

  • No pulling (duh)

  • Reward with treats, toys, and verbal praise
