Both Teams Foul
No change of possession: Fouls offset and the down is replayed
Change of possession
- Team in final possession has “dirty hands”: The fouls will offset and the down is replayed
- Team in final possession has “clean hands”: The team in possession can decline the foul against their opponent and keep the ball where it ends up after the foul against them in enforced
Dirty Hands
A team took possession of the ball but fouled before they got the ball
They will not be able to keep the ball
Clean Hands
A team took possession of the ball and did not foul on the play or fouled after they took possession
- PSK fouls fall into the category of being fouls after the change of possession
They will be able to keep the ball
Dead Ball Fouls
Do not cancel live ball fouls
Before the ball is next ready for play
- If both teams foul and neither of the fouls have been completed the fouls offset, regardless of the number of them on each side
- Any foul that is enforced is enforced before the line to gain is established
After the ball is next ready for play
- If both teams foul and one team’s foul is completed before the other team commits there foul then both will be enforced (Check on this one)
- Any foul that is enforced is enforced after the line to gain is established
Fouls During Touchdown Plays
Personal foul or UNS on B can both be carried over to the try or next free kick
- Other fouls by B are declined by rule to allow the score unless there is a spot of illegal touching that allows for enforcement
Foul by A is enforced as normal and cancels the score
Fouls During Field Goals
Team B fouls can be accepted at the previous spot by canceling the score
- Personal fouls and UNS can be rolled over to the succeeding free kick or spot where B will next put the ball in play if during extra periods
Foul by A is enforced as normal and cancels the score
Lateral Choice on PAT
A has choice if one of the following happens
- The declaration is made before a ready for play signal or the play clock reaches beneath 25 seconds
- B fouls
- There is a charged team timeout to either team
A does not have a choice if the following happens
- A has fouled, even if there was a charged team timeout after the foul
- There were offsetting fouls, even if there was a charged team timeout after the foul
Fouls During Trys
A score by a team who fouled on the try is cancelled
- Exception: The foul is a live ball treated as a dead ball
B fouls
- Before a change of possession: The fouls offset and the down is replayed
- After a change of possession: All fouls committed by B are declined by rule but if they are FUDL fouls they are enforced on the succeeding kick-off
FUDL Fouls
Flagrant personal, unsportsmanlike conduct, dead-ball, and live ball treated as dead ball fouls
Fouls During Extra Periods
Exact same as fouls during the try
A score by a team who fouled on the try is cancelled
- Exception: The foul is a live ball treated as a dead ball
B fouls
- Before a change of possession: The fouls offset and the down is replayed
- After a change of possession: All fouls committed by B are declined by rule but if they are FUDL fouls they are enforced on the succeeding kick-off
Overtime Possession Rules
Each team maintains possession of the ball until they either score or fail to get a first down
If team B gains possession of the ball it continues to be live until declared dead by rule
- B can score on these plays and end OT
If the play ends with team B in possession or team B had possession during the play the overtime period is over
- Either way B will be the next to put the ball in play at the A-25
Scoring Requirements in OT
Field-goals, touchdowns, and 2 point tries will always score
- Only during the first overtime period a 1 point attempt after a touchdown will score
OT Structure
During the 1st and 2nd period each team will start on their opponent’s 25 yard line in a 1st and 10 senecio
During the 3rd and later series each team will alternate 2 point attempts until there is a winner
