1st Gen order
Take charge if this post and all government property in view.
2nd Gen Order
Walk this post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert and observing everything taking place within sight or hearing.
3rd Gen Order
Report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.
4th Gen Order
Repeat all calls from any post more distant from the guardhouse or quarterdeck then my own.
5th Gen Order
Quit my post only when properly relieved.
6th Gen Order
Receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me all orders from the commanding officer, command duty officer, officer of the deck, and all officers and petty officers of the watch only.
