French and Indian War (Seven Years War)

A conflict (1754–1763) between Britain and France (with Native allies) over control of North America. Over the Ohio River Valley. Britain won but left them in huge debt which led to taxes on the colonies.

Pickney Treaty

A treaty between the U.S. and Spain signed in 1795. Allowed Americans to Use the Mississippi River for trade and deposit goods at the port of New Orleans. It helped the U.S. western farmers ship crops, boosted trade, and reduced tensions w/ Spain.
