Memorial Carillon and Campanile
- 120-foot-tall bell tower built in 1951 as a WWII memorial.
- Contains 53 carillon bells, cast in England, that play the Westminster chimes every ¼ hour from 7am-9pm
- It is a KU graduation tradition to walk through the
Campanile two-by-two, down the hill to the stadium for the ceremony. Legend states it is bad luck for a student to pass through before graduation and you may not graduate at all if you do! Another legend is if you kiss in the campanile while the bells chime, you will marry that person
- A carillon class is offered to learn to play the bells
Marvin Grove
- Set aside in 1928 as off-limits to future buildings, saved for war memorials
- Once contained a 7-hole golf course, since abandoned to nature
Potter Lake
-Built in 1910 as a reservoir to help combat fires.
- Was used for swimming, etc. until 1927 when it was banned due to safety and the completion of the public pool.
- It is a tradition to march goal posts out of the stadium and throw them in. A piece of post was found in 2014, confirming an old campus rumor
- Free wifi reaches all the way out to the lake
Vietnam War Memorial
- Commemorated May 25, 1986
- Honors 57 students and alumni who died or were declared missing
Korean War Memorial
- Honors 44 members of the university community who died in the Korean War

Anderson Family Football Complex
- Opened in July 2008 as the headquarters for Kansas Football
- 80,000 SF building and includes two 100-yard outdoor practice fields
- Also contains offices, academic areas, training areas, weight room, locker rooms, and a display area
Memorial Stadium
- Constructed as a memorial for students who died in WWI- Idea of Forest C. "Phog" Allen
- Local residents assisted with the construction of the stadium by carrying buckets of concrete and pouring molds
- 7th oldest collegiate stadium in the nation, oldest west of the Mississippi
- Current capacity of 47,000, under construction and Phase I is set to be completed by August 2025
Snow Hall
- Houses Mathematics, Economics, and Urban Planning

- Rumored to be inspired by Snow White's because the architect's daughter was a fan; never been proven true or false
- Became known as the "Mouse House" because it housed 10,000 research mice
Carruth-O'Leary Hall
- Administrative and support offices
- Wilt Chamberlain lived here while at KU in the mid 1950's
Joseph R. Pearson Hall (JRP)
- Home to the School of Education, includes programs in psychology and research in education, special education, teaching and leadership
- Also houses the Center for Research on Learning, the Institute for Education Research and Public Service, and the Learning Resource Center
Chi Omega Fountain
- Gift from the sorority in 1954
- Tradition for students to get "fountained" on their birthday

Lindley Hall

Rock Chalk Chant
-KU's world famous Rock Chalk Chant evolved from a cheer that a chemistry professor, E.H.S. Bailey, created for the KU science club in 1886. Bailey's version was "Rah, Rah, Jayhawk, KU" repeated three times. The rahs were later replaced by "Rock Chalk," a transposition of chalk rock, the name for the limestone outcropping found on Mount Oread, site of the Lawrence campus.
-Teddy Roosevelt pronounced it the greatest college chant he'd ever heard
-At the Olympics in 1920, the King of Belgium asked for a typical American college yell. The assembled athletes agreed on KU's Rock Chalk and rendered it for His Majesty
