What is an economic activity?
How people earn a living; a job.

What is a primary economic activity?
Jobs which involve working with the Earth’s resources e.g. farmer, fisher, miner
What is a secondary economic activity?
Jobs which involve manufacturing/making something e.g. carpenter, baker, builder
What is a tertiary economic activity?
Jobs that provide a service to people e.g. Garda, doctor, teacher
What is a natural resource?
Something that occurs in nature and is of value to people e.g. land, rivers, seas
What are the two types of natural resources?
renewable, non-renewable
What are renewable resources?
Natural resources that can be used over and over again e.g. water and wind
What are non-renewable resources?
Natural resources that can only be used once and will eventually run out e.g.oil and gas

Expain evaporation.
The sun heats the water in rivers, seas and lakes. This heated water turns into water vapour which rises.
Explain condensation.
The water vapour cools and condenses as it rises. This results in the formation of clouds.
Explain precipitation.
The clouds move over the land, and they cool. They release water as rain, hail sleet or snow.
Explain run-off.
Some of the water returns to the sea through the rivers. Water can also return to the sea by going underground. Soils absorb the water, and it flows underground into the sea.

Farmers must have permanent grassland to protect plants and animals' habitats.
