Energy flow

The way energy moves from one living thing to another in a food chain.

Ecosystem

All the living and non-living things in an area working together.

Producer

A living thing that makes its own food, like a plant using sunlight.

Consumer

A living thing that eats other living things for food.

Herbivore

An animal that eats plants.

Carnivore

An animal that eats other animals.

Omnivore

An animal that eats both plants and animals.

Scavenger

An animal that eats dead animals.

Decomposer

A living thing that breaks down dead plants and animals.

Food web

Many food chains connected together.

Habitat

The natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism.

Interdependence

When living things rely on each other to live.

Life processes

Things that all living things do to stay alive. The 7 life processes are: Movement, Reproduction, Sensitivity, Growth, Respiration, Excretion, and Nutrition.
