Step 1
Use a herbaceous plant as they're easier to cut, such as sunflower, celery, geranium
Step 2
Cut out a short, thin section of the stem using a backed blade. Cut away from fingers
Step 3
Store cut sections in a Petri dish of water to prevent dehydration
Step 4
Transfer sections onto a microscope slide using forceps/tweezers
Step 5
Add a few drops of water and a cover slip at an angle
Step 6
Observe section under low power and then high power as it's easier to focus in low power
