Abdominocentesis

Putting in a teat cannula?

  1. Make a hole by pushing through the scalpel blade into a folded up dry swab

  2. Place teat cannula through said hole

  3. Aim on midline and perpendicular to skin with teat cannula

  4. Have middle fingers pressing into skin (act as resistance so we don’t go too deep)

  5. Push - should feel a ‘pop’ or loss of pressure when we are in the right spot
