Inferential statistics
Statistical methods used to make inferences or generalizations about a population based on sample data.
Independent samples t-test
A statistical test used to compare the means of two independent groups.
Measures of central tendency
Statistical measures that summarize a set of data by identifying the central point within that dataset.
Type 1 error
An error that occurs when a true null hypothesis is rejected; a false positive.
Type 2 error
An error that occurs when a false null hypothesis is not rejected; a false negative.
Levene's test
A statistical test used to assess the equality of variances for a variable calculated for two or more groups.
Non-parametric tests
Statistical tests that do not assume a specific distribution for the data, often used for ordinal data.
Research report
A structured document that communicates research findings to a specific audience.
Abstract
A concise summary of a research study, including the research question, methods, findings, and conclusions.
Descriptive statistics
Statistics that summarize or describe characteristics of a data set.
Mann-Whitney U test
A non-parametric test used to compare differences between two independent groups.
Homogeneity of variance
The assumption that different samples or groups have the same variance.
Statistical analysis
The process of collecting and analyzing data to identify patterns, relationships, or differences.
Ethical considerations
Factors taken into account to ensure that research is conducted ethically, including informed consent and approval from ethics committees.
Levels of measurement
The different ways that variables can be quantified, including nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio.
Statistical significance
A determination that the results of a statistical analysis are unlikely to have occurred under the null hypothesis.
