Gender Roles
Culturally defined expected roles, responsibilities, values, and behaviors according to gender that vary historically and geographically.
Androgynous Personalities
Personalities displaying both instrumental and expressive traits; individuals with expressiveness tend to be strong in relationships.
Gender Scripts
Socially patterned behaviors tied to gender that influence and differentiate how men and women act within relationships.
Attachment Styles
Relational patterns learned from the consistency and responsiveness of caregivers during infancy and childhood that extend into adulthood.
Secure Attachment
An adult attachment style characterized by low anxiety (fear of abandonment) and low avoidance of intimacy, where individuals have a positive self-image and feel comfortable with intimacy and vulnerability.
Pre-occupied Attachment
An adult attachment style characterized by high anxiety (fear of abandonment) and low avoidance of intimacy, where individuals crave relationships and are hyper-focused on them.
Fearful Attachment
An adult attachment style characterized by high anxiety (fear of abandonment) and high avoidance of intimacy, driven by fear of getting hurt and the expectation that relationships will not work out.
Dismissing Attachment
An adult attachment style characterized by low anxiety (fear of abandonment) and high avoidance of intimacy.
