The Chinese Communist Party, formed in 1921 hoped to carry out a communist revolution with support of Stalin and the comintern.

-Stalin however backed Jiang Jieshi, leader of the GMD nationalist movement. Stalin believed the GMD would bring more stability to key areas on Russia’s eastern borders.

Stalin was also suspicious of the alternative interpretation of marxist ideology by the CCP.

at the 6th comintern congress in July 1928, Stalin put forward his view that capitalism was now at a point of crisis, and that the time was right for an all out attack on European Capitlism

-Soviet control of the comintern grew stronger, as stalin appointed loyalists to run it.

-Soviet agents were sent abroad to infiltrate foreign communist parties and report back to moscow.
