Setting
The time and place in which a story occurs, including seasons, historical context, and both figurative and literal locations.
Character/s
The individuals in a story, including the protagonist, antagonist, and various types such as round, flat, dynamic, supporting, and stereotypes.
Protagonist
The main character in a story, often facing challenges or conflicts.
Antagonist
The character or force that opposes the protagonist.
Round Character
A character that undergoes significant development throughout the story.
Flat Character
A character that remains unchanged throughout the story.
Point of View
The perspective from which a story is narrated, including first person and third person.
Omniscient Narration
A narrative style where the narrator knows all thoughts and feelings of the characters.
Limited Omniscient Narration
A narrative style where the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of only one character.
Plot
The sequence of events in a story, including exposition, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.
Exposition
The introduction of background information, setting, and characters in a story.
Conflict
The central struggle in a story, which can be self vs self, person vs person, person vs society, person vs nature, or person vs God.
Rising Action
The series of events that lead to the climax of the story.
Climax
The turning point or most intense moment in the story.
Falling Action
The events that follow the climax and lead to the resolution.
Resolution
The conclusion of the story where conflicts are resolved.
Theme
The underlying meaning or vision of a work, often expressed in a complete statement.
Subject
The general idea or topic of a story, such as war, family, friendship, or love.
Topic
A narrowed down subject that focuses on a specific aspect of the general idea, such as the generation gap between parents and children.
